Iittala – Colored Glass
The history of Iittala dates back to 1881, when the glass factory was built in the city of Iittala in Finland. The factory produced a number of different types of glassworks.
Iittala is often characterized by the colored glass. We find this in several of their vases, glasses, bowls and plates. They also have a wide selection of other glassware, crockery and interiors.
Iittala had its breakthrough in connection with the early modernism of the 30s and 40s. During this period, they collaborated with well-known designers such as Alvar Aalto and Kaj Frank. Later, people like Oiva Toikka and Alfredo Häberli also joined the glass factory.
